    The spot check covers the main circulation areas of commodities such as the domestic market, cross-border e-commerce and distribution centers for imported products. Among them, 71 batches were randomly selected at ports, 8 batches were unqualified, 388 batches were randomly selected in the circulation field, and 211 batches were unqualified. E-commerce platform checks 8 batches and fails 7 batches.

    From the point of origin, the commodities sampled involved 18 countries or regions of origin, of which Japan, Germany, South Korea, Italy and the United Kingdom had relatively large import quantities, with the unqualified detection rate reaching 52.5% on average.

    From the brand point of view, the spot check involves more than 60 brands, including Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Hyundai, BMW and many other well-known brands.

    There were more than 10 batches of unqualified brands in the spot check: Land Rover, Toyota, Audi, Timington, Volvo, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Kia and BMW.

    The random inspection products are tested strictly in accordance with China's mandatory standard GB 5763-2008 "Brake Lining for Vehicles". The testing items include appearance quality, dimensional tolerance, friction performance, shear strength, impact strength, thermal expansion rate, compressive strain and packaging marks.

    Statistics show that unqualified items include: signs (174 batches, accounting for 77.0%); Friction performance (80 batches, accounting for 35.4%); Shear strength (8 batches, accounting for 3.5%); Compression strain (3 batches, accounting for 1.3%) (Note: the same commodity may involve multiple nonconformities at the same time).

    Among them, the "unqualified mark" is mainly manifested as the product packaging has no Chinese mark, the Chinese mark is incomplete and the designated friction coefficient is not printed.

    It is worth noting that if the specified friction coefficient is not indicated on the logo, some items of friction performance cannot be tested. Therefore, unqualified marks also involve potential safety hazards.

    It is understood that the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has once again organized key supervision and spot checks on the quality of imported brake pads. The results of the spot checks will be announced in the near future. For products that fail to pass the spot checks, severe penalties will be imposed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

    In the second batch of products in 2016 organized by the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, brake linings for domestic automobiles were randomly selected. This time, 60 batches of brake linings for automobiles produced by 60 enterprises in 12 provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government, including Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, were randomly selected, and 3 batches of products did not meet the standards. The qualified rate is better than that of imported brake pads.

    According to GB 5763-2008 "Automotive Brake Lining" and other standards, spot checks were carried out on 8 items of automotive brake lining products, including friction coefficient, wear rate, allowable deviation of specified friction coefficient, impact strength, shear strength, thermal expansion rate and compressive strain (normal temperature, 400℃).

    The spot check found that 3 batches of products produced by 3 companies such as Huzhou Top Auto Parts Co., Ltd. did not meet the standards, involving the items of allowable deviation, wear rate and friction coefficient of the specified friction coefficient.

    TIPS: precautions for replacing brake pads

    When the thickness of the brake pad is less than the minimum maintenance standard allowed by the vehicle manufacturer (usually when the thickness is 1/3 of the original one);

    When the wear alarm switch on the brake pad has already given an alarm;

    When brake pads are contaminated by oil or grease;

    When brake pads make abnormal noise during braking;

    In general, if the thickness difference between the two sides of the brake pad on the fixed brake caliper reaches 1.5mm, the thickness difference between the two sides of the brake pad on the floating brake caliper reaches 3.0mm, it needs to be replaced. However, it is impossible to accurately judge whether the brake pad is excessively worn through simple appearance observation. It is better to measure the thinnest part of the brake pad with a ruler to see whether it is within the allowable range (according to the maintenance manual of specific vehicle type).
